Start the New Year Off on the Right Foot with SKILLS that will Transform your LIFE

Have you heard about DBT?

DBT, which stands for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a broad-based cognitive-behavioral treatment known for its effectiveness in helping individuals who experience chronic emotional dysregulation and/or a pattern of self-destructive behaviors.

DBT has been found to be an effective treatment for a variety of mental health conditions including depression and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, substance issues, eating disorders, self-harm and suicidal ideation, PTSD, as well as ADHD and executive functioning issues.   DBT can include individual therapy and group skills training. It requires a commitment of time, money, and prioritization, AND the therapeutic benefits can be LIFELONG!

DBT recognizes that patient problems are often the result of skill deficits and so increasing individual capabilities through skills training is a major focus  of DBT.  Lotus Psychotherapy is pleased to offer DBT skills training as part of its group offerings. DBT skills are aimed directly at reducing problems that stem from patterns of instability in emotional regulation, as well as difficulties in impulse control, interpersonal relationships, and self-esteem.

ABOUT THE COURSE: This 24-week course is for Adults. Each week will focus on the teaching and practicing of new skills. DBT includes four behavioral skill modules:

    • Mindfulness: the practice of being fully aware and present in this one moment
    • Distress Tolerance: how to tolerate pain in difficult situations, not change it
    • Interpersonal Effectiveness: how to ask for what you want and say no while maintaining self-respect and relationships with others
    • Emotion Regulation: how to decrease vulnerability to painful emotions and change emotions that you want to change

ZOOM - a secure link to our online platform will be sent to you prior to the start of the first training session.

This 24-session 90-minute training group will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9 PM starting on January 11th.  The training will take place for 24 consecutive weeks ending in mid-June.
